Information

Established in 1969, Southlake Angling Society is a well-established angling club located in Woodley, Berkshire. The club boasts three venues that cater to a wide range of anglers, from those looking to catch specimen fish to those participating in matches or simply enjoying the pleasure of angling. The society originally began on the 18-acre former estate lake of Southlake in Woodley. In 1976, the club expanded its reach by taking over the management of an 8-acre gravel pit in Hurst from Redlands Aggregates. This lake, now known as Redlands, was eventually purchased by the club in 1999, further solidifying their presence in the area. In 2010, the Southlake Angling Society transitioned into a Limited Company (Limited By Guarantee) to provide full personal protection to its officers and members from the club's liabilities. This legal structure change was made to ensure that in the event of any litigation, members would only be liable to pay a nominal sum of £1 if the club were to be wound up. Redlands, the general fishery lake owned by the club, is well-stocked with a variety of fish species including Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch, and Pike. The lake also features designated swims to accommodate disabled anglers, ensuring that all members of the community can enjoy the sport of angling. Overall, Southlake Angling Society continues to thrive as a hub for anglers of all levels, offering diverse fishing opportunities and a strong sense of community among its members in the picturesque setting of Woodley, Berkshire.
