Bessy Beck Trout Fishery is a well-known small still water complex located in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park. The fishery boasts three lakes stocked with Blue, Rainbow, and Brown Trout, with specimen Blue and Rainbows reaching over 15lb in weight. Anglers of all ages and abilities are welcome at Bessy Beck, and the fishery also offers easy access for less abled anglers. Catch and release is allowed on all lakes, with anglers permitted to take up to 3 fish per session and then catch and release for the rest of their allotted time. The lakes are stocked with Rainbow Trout, Blue Trout, and Brown Trout which must be returned upon catch. Heron Lake, Island Lake, and Mallard are the three lakes at Bessy Beck, each offering unique fishing experiences. Carp can also be found in the lakes and occasionally take the fly. Different tactics are recommended depending on the season, with intermediate or sinking lines working well in winter and top of the water fishing with buzzers and dry flies being successful in spring and summer. The best flies to use include Apps blood woodworm, black snakes, Cats Whisker, and various dry flies like Black klinkhammer and Hoppers. Bessy Beck is owned by Ian and Shelley who have focused on providing excellent service, good facilities, and a relaxing environment for anglers to enjoy. An aerator in each lake helps oxygenate the water in the summer and prevents freezing in the winter, ensuring better fishing conditions year-round. The fishery's goal is to provide a great stock of Trout for anglers to target while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales.
