Information
Established in 1975, Tenterden Trout Waters is among the oldest still water fisheries in South East England. Located in the idyllic Weald of Kent, just a short distance from the vibrant town of Tenterden, the fishery offers a tranquil and picturesque setting for anglers to enjoy. Spanning 4.5 acres, Tenterden Trout Waters features three lakes that are well stocked with rainbow, brown, and blue trout. The fish range from 3lbs to an impressive 12lbs. Anglers are provided with large retainer baskets along the banks to store their catch, with a set limit of 10 fish per session. Any additional fish must be released back into the lake, promoting a sustainable 'catch and release' system using barbless hooks. Standard hooks may be used for catch/keep. Fishing with floating and intermediate lines is highly effective, though sinkers can be beneficial for exploring deeper waters. Popular fly patterns at Tenterden Trout Waters include Goldhead's 'Green Grizzly Beetle' and the locally renowned 'Coopers Yellow', both of which are available for purchase on site. Montana nymphs are recommended for colder months, while a variety of midges and damsel flies provide ample opportunities for imitative fishing. The fishery also features a comfortable fishing lodge with complimentary tea and coffee, where anglers can enjoy their DIY lunches. Additionally, they can stay and fish in our Shepherd's Hut, which can be booked online. Booking of permits is essential for all anglers. The combination of excellent fishing conditions, diverse fish populations, and a commitment to sustainable practices makes Tenterden Trout Waters a popular destination for those seeking a rewarding and environmentally conscious fishing experience.
