Pippingford Lakes, located at the River Medway in the United Kingdom, are designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest due to their unique ecological features. These lakes are home to one of the most diverse populations of dragonflies in the country, boasting a total of 25 different species. In addition to their ecological significance, Pippingford Lakes also offer excellent fishing opportunities, with over a mile of waterside available for anglers to fish from. The fish in these lakes are self-sustaining, providing a diverse range of species for anglers to target. Carp are known to reach sizes of up to 36 lbs, while pike can reach weights of up to 28 lbs. Other species include perch up to 4 1/2 lbs, roach over 2 lbs, and chubb up to 7 1/2 lbs. Night fishing is a popular activity at Pippingford Lakes, with many anglers camping out for extended periods during the fishing season. To protect the fish and maintain the ecological balance of the lakes, unhooking mats are mandatory and keep nets are not allowed. Additionally, membership to fish at Pippingford Lakes is limited to 120 people, ensuring that the lakes are not overcrowded and that anglers have ample space to enjoy their fishing experience.
