Information
Iremongers Pond is under the management of the Iremongers Pond Association (IPA), which was established in October 2007 after the Environment Agency approached the Wilford Community Association about linking the pond to the River Trent to help alleviate flooding. The pond had fallen into disuse and become a dumping ground for rubbish, prompting local residents to form the IPA to oversee its development and management. The IPA introduced large common Carp in January 2021 and breeding pairs of Tench in April 2017, as well as 100 English Crucian Carp in June/July 2017. The pond also contains Perch, Roach, Eels, Bream, Carp, Pike, and Barbel, with sightings of 12-spined Stickleback in feeder ponds. Fishing is available for various freshwater fish species, and the pond is connected to the river via a small channel. Development has increased the number of fishing pegs to 17, with wheelchair-accessible options on the eastern bank. Parking is available at the tram stop adjacent to the pond, with additional options at the pub car park (for patrons) or nearby side roads. The IPA welcomes feedback and suggestions for pond improvement via email. Iremongers Pond is located in Wilford, south of Nottingham City Centre, easily accessible via the Wilford Village Tram Stop or by walking over the Toll Bridge. Visitors can find the pond at the junction of Main Road and Coronation Avenue, with the postcode NG11 7AA.
