Information

Barston Lakes, located within the West Midlands Golf Club in Solihull, offers a comprehensive fishing experience convenient for anglers from Coventry, Birmingham, Solihull, Leamington, and Warwick. The centerpiece is Barston Lake, spanning 21 acres with 125 pegs and hosting Carp up to 37lb. It caters to both Carp and match fishing, accommodating groups ranging from 10 to 100 people. Wheelchair-accessible pegs are available, and the clubhouse provides amenities such as a bar serving food (operating hours vary seasonally), toilets, and showers. However, anglers are requested to wash hands and remove fishing clothing before entering the clubhouse. The venue maintains minimal rules, including prohibitions on barbed hooks, surface fishing, and braid mainline (except between November 1st and May 1st). Keepnets are allowed only during matches, with separate ones required for silvers and carp. Carp club members must obtain a night permit and adhere to specific regulations for night fishing, ensuring compatibility with scheduled matches. The facility closely monitors angling activities, and disruptive behavior may lead to expulsion without refunds. Barston Lakes emphasizes catch-and-release policies, strictly prohibiting the removal of fish. Anglers are encouraged to report any suspicious activity related to fish removal or harm to the authorities. Additionally, fish are microchipped, allowing for random tag checks. While some dates may be fully booked for matches, not all matches occupy the entire lake, leaving sections available for day tickets and carp fishing along the road bank.
