Information

Burshill A is a smaller pond of approximately 1½ acres that was specifically designed and developed as a pleasure fishery. It is part of the Burshill Fishery, which is located within the Brandesburton Complex. The pond is unique compared to the neighboring pits as it is shallow and flat-bottomed, making it easier for fishing. The pond has been heavily stocked with a variety of small fish species to ensure an enjoyable fishing experience for anglers. Additionally, there are also larger specimens present in the pond, including carp weighing close to 20lb, tench over 6lb, crucian carp over 2lb, and perch over 2lb. In recent years, improvements have been made to the facilities at Burshill A, including the replacement of all swims, upgrades to paths and car parking, and the addition of a members toilet. The pond is well sheltered from the wind, providing a comfortable fishing environment for anglers who prefer calm conditions. Previously, the pond experienced issues with excessive weed growth, but a significant stocking of 350 small carp and 50 crucian carp in 2009 helped to address this problem. Anglers who enjoy a variety of fish species will appreciate the diverse stock in Burshill A, which includes roach, carp, tench, eels, bream, perch, and pike. Permits are required to fish at Burshill A, with standard membership allowing fishing from 5am to 10pm and B class night permits available for night fishing from 10pm to 5am. Overall, Burshill A offers a peaceful and well-equipped fishing destination for anglers of all skill levels to enjoy.
