Also known as 'The Ressy', this pleasure venue is a popular fishing spot located in Ampthill Park, built by monks from Ampthill Castle. The lake spans approximately 1 acre and is surrounded by idyllic scenery. The water is spring-fed and home to a variety of fish species, including hundreds of Carp ranging from 1lb up to 20lb, with some even reaching 6-8lb. Recent matches have seen the capture of large Perch weighing up to 4lb 12oz. In addition to Carp and Perch, the lake also holds Bream, Tench, Roach, Rudd, Goldfish, Crucian Carp, Chub, and Gudgeon. There are 21 pegs surrounding the lake, offering anglers ample space to fish from. The lake features marginal reeds, water lilies, and depths ranging from 2ft to 6ft. There are certain regulations in place for fishing at The Ressy, including a night fishing ban, no bivvies or brolly tents allowed, no keepnets, and the requirement to have a landing net while fishing. Only barbless and micro-barbed hooks are permitted for fishing in the lake.
