Berners Hall Fishery is a picturesque fishing complex located in the heart of the Essex countryside, in the town of Ongar. The complex features three stunning lakes, including a massive 24-acre reservoir and two newly developed carp lakes. In order to fish at Berners Hall Fishery, anglers must pre-book in advance to secure their spot on the lakes. The main reservoir at the fishery is well-known for its impressive carp population, with over 30 different 30lb carp caught last year alone. The current lake record belongs to a carp named Rambo, weighing in at an impressive 44lb. Aside from carp, the reservoir is also home to a number of large catfish, some reaching weights of over 70lb, with an average size of around 40lb. The fishery has carefully stocked and managed its fish population, with 600 hand-picked carp and 14 catfish introduced to the lakes. These catfish have been growing in the stock pond since 2006, ensuring a healthy and sustainable fish population.
