Information

Gayton Road Fisheries is excited to announce its reopening after the country-wide lockdown. However, please note that they are not a day ticket fishery and fishing is only available for guests staying on-site and season permit holders. The site is prepared to welcome visitors back while adhering to social distancing regulations for a safe and relaxing experience. For the 2021 season, Gayton Road Fisheries offers various accommodation options, including a holiday lodge and limited touring caravan pitches covered by their Covid-19 policy. They also have seasonal touring caravan pitches available for those looking for a longer stay. Additionally, their Fishery Management and Fish sales business continue to operate with safety measures in place. The fisheries have been featured on the TV show 'Go Fishing' and were recommended by the late John Wilson MBE. Fishing charges apply for all three lakes, and only season permit holders and residents are allowed to fish. There are no day tickets available, and all fishing charges must be paid as soon as a baited hook enters the water. The site also keeps a fishing log book so visitors can see how the fishery is performing. Season permits are available for dedicated anglers who wish to fish all the lakes anytime, including night fishing at Mallard Lake. Mallard Lake is a mature water with a diverse range of fish, including Common and Mirror Carp, Tench, and Wels Catfish. Floater fishing is restricted on this lake, and only one fish per session can be caught using this method. Heron Pond offers a smaller, purpose-built fishery with a variety of fish, including Carp, Tench, Bream, and Wels Catfish. It is a peaceful spot for guests staying at the holiday lodges or seasonal pitches to enjoy some fishing or relax by the water's edge. Kingfisher Pond is the newest fishery on the site, stocked with Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, and Crucian Carp. This year, all Carp have been removed to support the Environment Agency's reintroduction of Crucian Carp scheme. Overall, Gayton Road Fisheries provides a range of fishing experiences for guests, whether they are looking for a challenging angling session or a peaceful day by the water. With their Covid-19 policy in place, visitors can enjoy their stay while staying safe and following all necessary regulations.
