Welcome to Elinor Trout Fishery, the premier medium-sized trout fishery in Northamptonshire. Spanning 50 acres of spring-fed, crystal clear limestone water, Elinor boasts an abundance of natural food that allows its trout to grow fat and healthy. The alkaline water creates the perfect conditions for superb fly hatches, enticing many fish to surface feed. Throughout the year, a variety of insects such as buzzers, olives, sedges, damsels, daddies, corixa, and daphnia provide rich feeding opportunities for the Elinor trout. With a 2021 season running from February 6th to December 31st (closed in August), Elinor offers fly-fishing for both Brown and Rainbow Trout in idyllic surroundings. Season permit holders even have the opportunity to bank fish in January 2022. The fishery features 1.5 miles of easily accessible bank fishing, ensuring there is plenty of space while still maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Elinor Trout Fishery also offers 15 modern boats and a Wheelyboat equipped with an electric engine and battery. Fish are stocked weekly with top-quality Rainbows and Browns, with some impressive catches in 2020 such as a 13lb 6oz Rainbow caught from the bank by Phil Musgrove from Sawtry, and a 13lb 6oz Rainbow caught from a boat by Bob Senior from Stamford. The fishery has a policy of encouraging catch and release, resulting in a large number of well-grown fish. Float-tubers are welcomed, and Elinor now has a fleet of 16 fifteen-foot Coulam boats available. The gin-clear water, well-oxygenated and spring-fed, provides a stable environment for the hard-fighting, well-conditioned fish that call Elinor home. Overall, Elinor Trout Fishery offers a top-notch fishing experience with its beautiful surroundings, high-quality stock, and variety of fishing opportunities for both seasoned anglers and novices alike. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day out on the water or hoping to reel in some impressive catches, Elinor has something to offer for all fishing enthusiasts.
