Information
The stretch of the river on the left (south) bank downstream from Stafford Bridge to the spinney at the end of the second field spans approximately 1,500 meters. This part of the river is non-navigable and flows north-westerly from Stafford Bridge before turning south-westerly. The water in this stretch is characterized as fast or medium paced, with shallows at the top end and alongside the first and third islands, while it slows down elsewhere. However, weed growth can be an issue downstream of the first island during the summer months. The opposite bank, which is also fished lightly, features fields and woods. Anglers can expect to find a variety of fish species in this area, including barbel (up to mid teens in weight), bream, chub (up to 6+ lbs), dace, perch, pike (up to upper teens), roach, and some tench. Parking for this fishing spot is available on the verge on the opposite side of the river, near the pumping station. It is important not to obstruct the pavement side by parking on it. The banks along most of this stretch are steep, requiring caution when navigating down to the water's edge. The fields adjacent to the river are arable, and the strip between the fields and the water may be overgrown. It should be noted that there is no public right of way on the club's bank. To access this fishing location, one should take the Oakley to Pavenham road, where the road descends to Stafford Bridge as you leave Oakley. Access to the water is to the right of the large gates (leading to the water pumping building) located about 50 meters before the bridge on the left-hand side. Anglers can go through the gate to the pumping station and into the field, following the path to the right to reach the river, which is about 50 meters ahead. The fishing area extends from the bridge downstream to the spinney beyond the third island. Parking options are limited and include the verge on the opposite side of the pumping station, with a reminder not to obstruct the pavement.
