Information
At Colston Hall, guests staying in our B&B or cottage have the exclusive opportunity to fish in our two private lakes, spanning a total area of 1.5 acres. These lakes are teeming with a variety of fish species, including mirror and common carp, bream, roach, rudd, tench, golden orf, and ghost koi. Unlike many other fishing locations, there is no closed season at Colston Hall, meaning that guests can enjoy fishing all year round. Fishing hours are between 7am and dusk, allowing plenty of time to relax and enjoy the serene beauty of the lakes. For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, we do ask that any angler under the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult. To ensure a fair and organized fishing environment, we have designated swims for anglers to fish from, and we request the use of barbless hooks to minimize harm to the fish. Additionally, in an effort to preserve fish stocks, we ask that carp weighing over 2lb are not kept in keep-nets. In order to maintain a peaceful and natural atmosphere, radios are not permitted during fishing sessions, and guests are kindly asked to refrain from bringing dogs, camping on the premises, or creating fires. It is important to respect the natural habitat and existing fish population, so introducing or removing fish from the lakes is strictly prohibited. We also ask that anglers dispose of any litter properly to help keep the area clean and pristine. For the convenience of guests, we offer a drying room for wet outdoor clothing and muddy boots, as well as a "wash house" for the storage of fishing tackle and bait. The cost of fishing is £10 per day, allowing each person to use up to 2 rods. We believe this fee offers great value for a relaxing and enjoyable fishing experience in our picturesque lakes at Colston Hall.
