In April 2011, Martin Ford, a former editor of Advanced Carp Fishing Magazine and Carpworld Magazine, acquired a long-term lease on the Woodsetts Quarry Pond site and lake. With a passion for promoting carp fishing in a natural environment, Martin implemented a comprehensive management plan for the site. The entire area underwent a significant refurbishment process, including the removal of debris and rubbish from the lake and surrounding woodlands. The fishery now operates as a Carp Night Syndicate, Carp & Pike Winter Syndicate, and Day Ticket Fishery, catering to anglers of varying preferences. Numerous improvements have been made to enhance the angler's experience, such as refurbished existing swims and the construction of new ones. The introduction of around 300 carp, including the Horseshoe/Orchid and Farriers carp strains, has ensured the lake's future as the fish continue to grow. Some of the new stock, introduced in 2012, have already reached impressive sizes, with several exceeding 20lbs. The lake's original stock, some of which are over 30 years old, have also shown healthy weight gains thanks to a consistent food source. Woodsetts Quarry Pond, a historic Sand Extraction Pit from the 1950s, offers exceptional carp fishing opportunities for dedicated anglers, presenting a variety of challenging scenarios. Additionally, the lake boasts excellent Tench fishing, with anglers often catching multiple fish in a single session. Pike fishing in the winter months can yield impressive results, while coarse anglers can enjoy a variety of species like roach, bream, Rudd, Perch, and more. The site is not only a prime fishing location but also a designated nature reserve, attracting a diverse range of wildlife. The surrounding woodland serves as a habitat for various animals, including badgers, foxes, deer, and a vibrant bat community. Birdwatchers frequent the area to capture images of Kingfishers, Sand Martins, Swallows, and Swifts, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. Anglers must adhere to a set of rules to protect the fish and the environment, with regular patrols conducted by Bailiffs and Environment Agency Enforcement Officers. Night fishing is restricted to syndicate members, with a waiting list in place for interested individuals. The site operates under specific fishing hours, with day tickets available for purchase through Paypal. Detailed information, including ticket prices and contact details, is provided on the site's notice board and website. Overall, Woodsetts Quarry Pond offers a unique and diverse fishing experience in a natural setting, catering to a wide range of anglers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
