Information
This pit is a haven for true nature lovers, with most of it being under SSSI rules which limit any major work to the banks and surroundings. One end features platforms extending out to great fishing spots, while the other sides have swims cut into the bank side growth. The pit is generally shallow with a complex layout of islands, arms, and reed-lined bays, catering to a variety of fishing preferences. The pit is known for holding Carp up to 40lbs, along with a dense population of Rudd and Tench, making it a popular spot for summer fishing. Even in winter, anglers can still have good catches. Rudd are plentiful and easy to catch, often found throughout the pit. Tench can be a bit more selective due to the abundance of natural food, requiring some effort to reel them in from the shallow, weed-filled lake. However, with some perseverance, anglers can expect multiple catches of Tench weighing around 8lbs. Bream, Roach, and Perch can also be found in the pit, though not in large numbers. Pike, on the other hand, are quite numerous thanks to the abundance of Rudd. The deeper water along the bank and at the bottom bay are prime spots for Pike, with the lake boasting the Consortium Pike record of 31lbs. Overall, this pit offers a diverse and rewarding fishing experience for anglers of all skill levels, with the chance to reel in some impressive catches throughout the year.
