Located approximately 12 miles from Colchester, Prestons is a hidden gem nestled between White Colne and Pebmarsh. This 19-acre secluded lake is stream-fed and boasts an impressive stock of various fish species. Thanks to the excellent water quality and conditions, all the fish in Prestons have thrived and reproduced successfully. Anglers can expect to find Carp weighing over 30lb, as well as a few Pike up to 30lb. The lake is also home to big Tench, Bream, and Hybrids, providing a diverse and exciting fishing experience. The flat banks surrounding the lake make it accessible and comfortable for all anglers, including those with disabilities. In addition to the larger species, Prestons is teeming with silverfish, with bream, roach, and perch being more common catches than carp. Some carp anglers have even been known to switch their focus to these abundant species at times. The top end of the lake is designated as a Nature Reserve and is strictly off-limits to members. Any member found fishing in this area will face automatic expulsion from the club. The Carp stocks in Prestons include a special batch of Mark Symonds bred carp known for their rapid growth, promising some exciting catches in the future. Prestons Lake is open year-round with no close season, allowing anglers to enjoy fishing whenever they please. Facilities include two clean and maintained toilets in the car park, ensuring convenience and comfort for all visitors.
