The Colnes Angling Society is a long-standing club that has been in existence for over a century, marking its centenary in 2010. Originally established for residents of the Colnes villages and nearby Chappel, the club now welcomes anglers from all backgrounds who have a passion for fishing. Starting in 1910 with rented stretches of the River Colne, the Society has expanded its fishing rights over the years to include various still waters and additional portions of the river. One significant milestone in the club's history was the acquisition of Pebmarsh Lake in the 1970s, which led to a substantial increase in membership, now totaling around 400 members. The club prides itself on offering top-notch fishing experiences in picturesque settings, catering to pleasure anglers, those seeking specimen catches, and participants in match angling competitions. With a diverse range of fishing opportunities and a strong sense of community, the Colnes Angling Society continues to uphold its tradition of providing great fishing experiences for anglers of all levels.
