Information

Paxton Pits is a unique site that is divided into three distinct areas, each serving a different purpose. The southernmost third of the site is a nature reserve that is carefully managed by the Huntingdonshire District Council. This area is a haven for a variety of wildlife and offers visitors the chance to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of the surroundings. In the southwest corner of Paxton Pits lies a watersports zone, conveniently located close to the A1 highway. This area is perfect for adrenaline-seekers looking to enjoy activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and other water-based adventures. It provides a fun and exciting experience for those looking to make a splash. The third area of Paxton Pits is an active quarry managed by Bardon Aggregates. Currently, there is no public access to this section of the site. However, there are plans to integrate many of the quarry areas into the nature reserve over the next decade. This will open up new opportunities for visitors to enjoy quiet recreation activities in previously restricted areas. Overall, Paxton Pits offers a diverse range of experiences for visitors to enjoy. From exploring the natural beauty of the nature reserve to engaging in thrilling watersports activities, there is something for everyone to appreciate at this unique destination. With plans to expand public access in the future, Paxton Pits is set to become an even more popular and accessible location for recreation and enjoyment.
