Information

Endsleigh Fishing Club offers an exceptional fishing experience on 9 miles of the lower River Tamar, known as the best salmon river in the South-West. The club boasts the best stretch of the river, providing beautiful, prolific, and secluded fishing opportunities. The salmon season runs from March 1st to October 14th, with fishing primarily done through fly fishing. The fishing area is divided into 6 Beats that are rotated among anglers. Each Beat has 10-12 named pools, with Beat 6 including additional tidal water. Spinning is allowed on Beats 1 to 5 before September 1st in certain high water and low visibility conditions, and on Beat 6 until mid-September with reservations. However, most anglers only resort to spinning when the water is unsuitable for fly fishing. The use of prawn and worm baits are not permitted. National Restrictions require all salmon caught before June 16th to be released back into the river. Access to the fishing spots is convenient, as cars can be driven along the riverside track to reach most pools. Anglers can fish from the bank, croys, or by wading (chest waders recommended for some pools). Boats are available on four pools for fishing. Recommended equipment includes fly rods of 14-15 ft. with a sink tip line and nylon ranging from 10-18 lbs. Flies for high water conditions include 2" yellow, orange, or black brass tubes; for medium water - 1 1/2" brass tubes or Waddingtons; for low water - 1" brass tubes or shrimp flies/stoats tails in sizes 8-10. Anglers are advised to use a large knotless mesh landing net for landing fish. Overall, Endsleigh Fishing Club offers a high-quality fishing experience on the stunning River Tamar.
