Burwell Brick Pit Fishery, a 38 acre former clay quarry closed in 1971, has been transformed into a picturesque fishing spot by Steve Calder and his partners. The fishery boasts a variety of coarse fish including Carp, Rudd, Perch, and Pike. The team has developed the overgrown quarry by creating 40 spacious swims surrounded by reed beds, channels, islands, and deep margins. Gates are locked from 7pm to 7am for security. Tickets for the remainder of the 2013-2014 season are currently priced at a discounted rate of £100 due to ongoing improvements at the site. 12- and 24-hour tickets are also available for £10 and £20 respectively. Anglers are allowed to use up to three rods and all properly prepared particle baits, except for peanuts. Bait boats are permitted if used safely and courteously, and can be rented for £15 per day. The fishery enforces commonsense rules, including the acceptance of both barbed and barbless hooks. It is a serene and secluded fishing location for anglers to enjoy the outdoors and try their luck at catching some of the impressive fish that inhabit the waters of Burwell Brick Pit Fishery.
