Named after the renowned Dutch engineer responsible for draining much of the East Anglian fens, Vermuyden Lake is a prime fishing destination located near St Ives and Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. This former gravel pit measuring 2-3 acres is heavily stocked with over 200 carp, many of which weigh over 10lbs and some reaching an impressive 30lbs. The lake is popular among both novice and experienced carp anglers, offering plenty of arm-aching action for those seeking a challenge. While the carp at Vermuyden Lake respond well to various fishing methods, anglers have found success with traditional ledgering techniques using hair-rigged boilies on two rods, particularly when targeting the lake's larger specimens. Vermuyden Lake has gained a reputation for excellent winter fishing, with carp known to be caught even on the coldest days. Day and night tickets are available year-round, providing anglers with the opportunity to enjoy this scenic and well-stocked fishing spot at their convenience. Whether you're looking to reel in your personal best carp or simply enjoy a relaxing day by the water, Vermuyden Lake offers a rewarding and memorable fishing experience for all.
